Quests End

My quest has come to an end.  Over this last month I have gone farther into to four musicians lives.  I have learned so much about these artists.  Some of what I learned was a bit crazy, and some a little out of the ordinary.  I feel like this has help me figure some stuff out about the music industry.  Most of all it has helped me learn something new each week, without things getting to broad or boring.  At the end of my quest I am now saying that what I have learned will be valuable sometime down the road.

Thank you to all my followers.

It was confirmed in August of 2010 that Blige had begun work on her tenth studio album.  Reports claimed the album would be titled, LovHer and be released first quarter of 2011, but Mary revealed to Rap-Up. com during her Music Saved My Life Tour in 2010, she was in no hurry to release the album and she had not given it a title yet.

On August 26, 2003, Blige's sixth album Love & Life was released by Geffen Records.  Although the album was certified platinum, it is Blige's lowest-selling to date.  Geffen Records released Blige's seventh studio album, The Breakthrough on December 20th, 2005.  Her leading single "Be Without You" peaked at number 3 on Billboard's top 100 and stayed there for over sixteen months.

In 1993 Blige came out with her debut album "What's the 411?".  After releasing a few singles, they knew that the albums would be successful.  The first single released reached number one on the R&B charts.  Not but a year later dropped her sophomore album "My Life".  This album reached high status as did her first.  Many of the song got high on the charts with "I'm Going Down" being the highest at number twelve.

Blige took a few years off to do various collaborations with other artist.  In 1998 she came out with her third album "Share My World", which debuted at number one and had five hit singles.  The following year Blige released "Mary" her fourth studio album.  Unlike her first three albums this one did not receive as much praise.  In 2001 Blige released her fifth studio album entitled "No More Drama".  The album went double platinum selling over two million copies.

Mary J. Blige-early life

Mary J. Blige was born January 11th, 1971.  She was the second of four children.  Her mother Cora Blige was a nurse, and her father Thomas Blige was a Jazz musician.  Blige spent her early years in Richmond Hill, Georgia, where she sang in a Pentecostal church.  She would later move back to Yonkers into the Slobaum Houses with her mother, older sister, five cousins, and two aunts.

Blige dropped out of school in the eleventh grade.  She also started to focus on a singing career then also.  At seventeen Blige recorded an impromptu cover of Anita Baker's "Caught Up In the Rapture" at a recording booth in the Galleria Mall in White Plains, New York.  Her mothers boyfriend at the time later sent it into Jeff Redd who was a recording artist for uptown records.  Redd shared it with the CEO of the label and not long after Blige was signed to a record deal.

Kanye West- Influence and Personal Life

Kayne West says that Wu-Tang Klan producer RZA was his influence and the reason his for his style in music and producing.  West has said before that he likes to listen to rock music over rap when he is outside of work, and that the Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Killer are some of his favorite.  West also got inspiration from rock bands such as U2, The Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin.

Kanye had been engaged to Alexis Phifer a designer for 18 months.  In 2008 they broke it off.  Alexis said that there was way to much strain which had been put on due to Kanye putting to much time into his concert tour.  On November 18, 2008 Kanye's mother passed away due to complication from cosmetic surgery involving abdominoplasty and breast augmentation.  Kanye told reports, "It was like losing an arm and a leg and trying to walk through that,".  In honor of her death, California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger passed the "Donda West Law," which makes it mandatory for patients to get medical clearance for elective cosmetic surgery. Kanye dedicated a performance of "Hey Mama", as well as a cover of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin", to his mother, and did the same on all other dates of his Glow in the Dark tour.

Kanye West- Career continued

West announced in September of 2005 that he would release his Pastelle Clothing Line.  He released his third album Graduation on September 11th, 2007.  Like his debut and sophomore albums it also brought more success to Kanye.  For his Graduation album he won four Grammy's including Best Rap Album for Graduation and Best Rap Solo Performance for "Stronger" from the Graduation album.
